Thoughts to Ponder are my musings regarding community, things of the Spirit, and living as a Christ-follower. I don't offer the words of a professional or an expert; just a fellow traveler and explorer. Please don't take my musings more serious than I do. I've discovered a long time ago that I do not hold the keys of knowledge or wisdom. If I did, I misplaced them somewhere...typical.

Dad at home for three weeks

To all of my friends who have been keeping up with my dad's condition: he has been at home since January 11! I took him to his house and stayed with him for two weeks. Now my oldest brother Michael is with him for a couple of weeks. My middle brother, Clay, who lives a couple of miles away from dad is monitoring the situation to see how we will need to proceed after Mike goes home.

Dad has his ankle boot off and is walking with a cane. He's a bit "wobbly" but that is to be expected for seven weeks in the hospital and eight weeks in a boot! He should be fine and gain back his balance. We have home health care coming out three times a week to work with him.

When he got home he got busy. He visits two nursing homes a week, conducting devotionals and visiting with the patients. He also leads devotionals at the local Drug Treatment Center twice a month. He received a long round of applause at each place when he showed up. They really missed him! Of course, he attends every assembly of the local church and everyone was thrilled to have him back. I believe his "ministry" keeps him young and going.

Please keep us all in your prayers as we try to transition dad back to independent living. There is no certainity about success. So please pray! I believe this with all of my heart: your prayers have brought him to this point thus far. I know God is listening.

God's blessings on all of you!

I'm so excited that he's still going out! I didn't think any of you would be able to keep him down or inside once he got back home!

Tell Grandpa to get even better (immortal would be okay) and I lvoe him and tell the uncles I love them, too! (But not as much as you, since you send me money every month.) :)
